A release of hazardous chemicals from a train, truck or plant that may require staying inside with windows sealed.
Warning signs
- Shelter-in-place alert
- Sirens
- Strange odors or a visible cloud
Before / 02
- Pre-cut plastic sheeting for one interior room
- Keep duct tape and a radio there
During / 03
- Get inside and close windows and doors
- Turn off HVAC and fans
- Seal the room with plastic and tape
- Listen to local radio
After / 04
- Ventilate when told it's safe
- Follow any decontamination instructions
